Bag Capture System

Rumpke Waste and Recycling provides curbside waste collection services and operates landfills and recycling centers across Ohio. AES was selected to provide a plastic bag capture system for their new $32 million MRF in Cincinnati. Plastic bags in the waste stream reduce the value of recyclables, clog process machinery and pose a danger to workers tasked with removing tangled bags from the equipment.

AES provided a turnkey equipment and installation package with professional project management. Our custom-designed bag capture system allows the operators to remove plastic bags at multiple points along the pre-sort conveyors and send them up through the hoods. This is where they are whisked away via the air conveyance system to the AirShark™, our own ultra-heavy-duty rotary material separator. The AirShark™ system helps Rumpke produce cleaner, higher-value recyclables in a safer, more efficient work environment.

Our scope of work included project design and engineering, equipment selection and integration, rigging and installation, structural steel fabrication and erection, and system start-up, commissioning, and training.
